Narcotics Anonymous meet organized for victims to lead drug free life

Jammu, August 17, 2023: “Narcotics Anonymous Jammu has been working to provide a way of life to an addict, any addict who wants to lead a drug free life,” informed Vipin Sharma, Secretary and Preet Singh, RDA Sosona India while addressing a press conference here today.

SP City, North, Kulbeer Handa and Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal also attended the press conference and assured all logistic support to members of Narcotic Anonymous in completely eradicating drug menace from  Jammu and Kashmir and saving youth from yoke of drugs.

Giving details, Vipin Sharma and Preet Singh said that, the first Narcotics Anonymous meeting in Jammu started in 2006 in Garrison Church Gandhinagar, where recovering addicts meet to help each other stay clean and find a new way of life. And from there onwards recovered drug victims aremeet regularly and help other victims to make a comeback in main stream. They said that their helpline number is 9086597717 and mail id [email protected] and anyone who require guidance and help in this regards and can approach them through said medium.

They introduced 12-Step Program of Narcotics Anonymous (NA), as its existence and presence in the different states & cities in India. The Narcotics Anonymous message is “that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.” Our intent is to share this message broadly so that those who might benefit from our program of recovery can find us, they said and added the primary service provided by Narcotics Anonymous is the NA group meeting. Each group runs itself based on principles common to the entire organization, which are expressed in NA’s literature. NA’s primary approach to recovery is its belief in the therapeutic value of one addict helping another.
City SP North, Kulbeer Handa during the presentation assured all assistance from police department and also detailed the number of FIRs registered, arrests and seizure of narcotics, by Jammu police in eradicating drug abuse.

In his address, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal shared his vast experience of nine years in creating mass awareness among youth about ill effects of drug abuse in Jammu region. He also put forth suggestions before the dignitaries to help drug victims in making way of living new life and contributing towards nation building.
