Justice Iqbal Wani takes stock of functioning of courts at District Court Complex Kargil

KARGIL, JUNE 21, 2021: Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Administrative Judge for District Kargil during his official visit to District Kargil visited District Court Complex Kargil, here today.

Justice Wani was accorded the ceremonial guard of honor on his arrival at the court complex.

During the course of the visit, the Administrative Judge for District Kargil inspected various courts situated in the District Court Complex Kargil and took note of the functioning of the courts. He exhorted upon the Judicial Officers to dispose-off old cases on priority basis in an expeditious manner.

Justice Javed Iqbal Wani also held a meeting with the Judicial Officers at the Court Complex Kargil where Mohd Rafiq Chak, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kargil, Tsewang Phuntsog, CJM Kargil and Moneer Ahmad, Munsiff Sankoo (Special Judicial Mobile Magistrate) were present.

Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kargil appraised Justice Wani about the space constraints in the existing District Court building housed in an old building.

 The Administrative Judge took note of same and the existing infrastructure, and directed the Civil Administration to redress the issues at the earliest.

Bar Association Kargil headed by Khadim Hussain Advocate and Talib Hussain Secretary, Bar Association Kargil also met Justice Wani at TFC Kargil, and raised various issues concerning the Bar Association including the proposed site for construction of the New Court Complex at Khurbathang.

Responding to the issues, the Administrative Judge for District Kargil assured to redress the demands of the association, and also assured to resolve the land issue of the proposed site of the New Court Complex.

During the day, Justice Wani visited Sankoo and inspected Munsiff Court Sankoo and took stock of the court functioning and infrastructure.

Later, in the evening, Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir Justice Javed Iqbal Wani also chaired a meeting with the Civil Administration headed by the Deputy Commissioner Kargil and the local Army headed by the Brigadier of 121 Infantry Brigade Kargil at Circuit House Kargil regarding the issue of land allotted for the construction of New Court Complex at Khurbathang, Kargil.

Justice Wani assured the Judicial Officers and Bar Members that the process for construction of New Court Complexes in the district would be taken in a direction to create the same expeditiously and informed the Bar Association that necessary requisite funds stands already sanctioned for the construction of the New Court Complex, and construction would be undertaken at the earliest after resolving the land issue.

Earlier, Justice Wani was welcomed at Drass by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kargil Mohd Rafiq Chak, Munsiff Sankoo (Special Mobile Magistrate) Moneer Ahmad, Munsiff Drass Deldan Angmo, ADC Kargil Tsering Motup and C. Samstan Dy SP DAR Kargil.

At Drass, the Administrative Judge for District Kargil inspected Munsiff Court, Drass and also visited the site for construction of New Court Complex Drass and directed the Civil Administration for timely construction of the ongoing work.
