EC Phunsok Tashi calls on Advisor Narula
Expresses gratitude to UT Administration Ladakh for approval of tourism related projects
KARGIL, JUNE 20, 2021: Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Punchok Tashi called on the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, Umang Narula here today and conveyed gratitude to the UT Administration Ladakh for approval of submitted proposals by the LAHDC, Kargil for different development works under Tourism Sector in Kargil and Zanskar for the year 2021-22.
EC Phunsok Tashi while expressing indebtedness to the LG Ladakh for approval of the submitted proposals expressed hope that the projects will certainly improve the tourism infrastructure in Kargil.
EC Tourism informed Advisor Narula that to augment tourism potential of Kargil, under the leadership of the CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, a holistic plan including the promotion of winter adventure sports and games has also been conceived.
EC Punchok Tashi also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the concerned officers of Tourism Department particularly the Secretary Tourism Ladakh, Director Tourism, CEO Kargil Development Authority, CEO Zanskar Development Authority, engineers and other concerned officials for devising and conceiving the plans and proposals.
EC Tashi further added that directions have been given to the executing agencies to expedite the tendering process so as to avoid any possible delay in view of the limited working season and prevailing circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Executive Councilor Tourism also briefed the Advisor about different approved projects including the development of Skoryang Campus (TRC) at 50 kanals of land at Kargil and Zanskar at a cost of Rs 1.00 crore, development of wayside amenities at Kargil and Zanskar at Rs 1.00 crore, construction of footpath and TFC at Urgian-Rzong Fokar at the cost of Rs 70 lacs , development of eco tourism sites at Chiktan at Rs 20 lacs and development of snow ski site by way of ski lift at Linkipal Kargil at a cost of Rs 2 crores.
It was further informed that other works include construction of compound walling of 105 kanals land at hiker base camp at Panikhar at a cost of Rs 1 crore, construction of approach road, cafeteria and public convenience at Showkila Panikhar at Rs 1 crore, construction of 2nd floor over existing TFC building at Kargil at a cost of Rs 1 crore and development of river front and construction of amusement park at Ufti Zanskar at a cost of Rs 1.50 crores.
EC Punchok Tashi further stated that Rs 1 crore has been approved for development of river front and construction of amusement park at Tahan Zanskar and 2 crores for development of snow ski slopes and providing gondola/lift chair including staff quarters and cafeteria at Padum.
