Advisor Narula visits Sankoo, Suru Karchay area

Takes stock of the pace of progress on 20 bedded hospital at Gond Mangalpore, District Jail at Khumbathang

KARGIL, JUNE 20, 2021: On the third day of his visit to Kargil district, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Umang Narula visited Sankoo, Suru and Karchay area here today.

The Advisor was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Choudhary, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil Abdul Gaffar Zargar and other concerned officers.

Advisor Narula visited the 20 bedded hospital at Gond Mangalpore where the In Charge Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil Dr Fatima Nissa briefed him about various facilities proposed to be set up at the health centre.

Public representatives including BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs welcomed the Advisor and demanded him to make the hospital functional at the earliest possible.

En route Sankoo, the Advisor enquired about the pace of progress of works of District Jail Kargil being constructed at Khumbathang.

SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary while apprising the Advisor about the pace of progress achieved so far on the construction of the jail said that the internal finishing, compound fencing and other miscellaneous works are yet to be completed.

The Advisor also visited the 7th century Maitreya Buddha Statue and mausoleum of Rgyal Khatoon at Karchay Khar. He interacted with the public representatives and the inhabitants to know about their issues and developmental needs.

The locals demanded to develop footpath and install street lights to the statue site to ease the movement of tourists and also projected various other demands.

Responding to the demands of the locals, the Advisor instructed the Deputy Commissioner Kargil to take requisite measures to address the issues of the inhabitants.

Later, Advisor Narula also visited fish farm of the Fisheries Department at Damsna to take stock of its overall functioning.

The AD Fisheries and officials at the fish farm informed the Advisor about different varieties of fish and procedures of fish production at the farm.
