Jammu, 4 July, 2021: In recognition of the tremendous contribution of women across corporates and agencies in the communication space, Exchange4Media announced the winners of the prestigious Women Achievers Summit & Awards 2021. Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Chief Corporate Affairs & Policy Officer, Zupee, was recognized as Innovative Leader of the Year for leading the charge of shaping online gaming & the use of technology for good discourse in the public and policy space.
Highly renowned for creating innovative ideas and solutions, Dr. Subi Chaturvedi believes strongly in leveraging the power of digital innovation for changing people’s lives for the better, and transforming societies of today into the societies of tomorrow. She has been working tirelessly towards shaping the policy ecosystem and perception around Indian online gaming sector to help the industry capitalise and strengthen its position in the global market.
Dr. Subi Chaturvedi has been a strong advocate for positive change and digital transformation. She is considered as a key industry voice for online-gaming sector in general and especially for Zupee, which is the segment leader in skill-based online gaming. She was the first Indian woman on the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, multistakeholder group representing two stakeholders groups, media & civil society, appointed by the UN Secretary General.
Sharing her reaction on being conferred with the recognition, Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Chief Corporate Affairs & Policy Officer, Zupee, said “I would like to thank the jury and the organisers for recognising and celebrating my contribution through this award. It is now a greater responsibility for me to continue working towards mainstreaming innovation in everyone’s life and for using technology and gaming for good. I also thank young and talented entrepreneurs in India who are relentlessly ensuring that the Make in India, Aatam Nirbhar Bharat & Made in India for the world, dream comes true. Zupee founded by two IIT graduates Dilsher Malhi & Siddhant Saurabh is a glowing example of the same. I thank Dilsher, Founder & CEO of Zupee for his contribution & vision in skilling India and always inspiring me with his leadership & dedication.”
Remarking upon her accomplishments, Dr. Subi Chaturvedi further added, “It is important that we build businesses with purpose and create brands which are humane, ethical, clear, candid, creative & user centric. Since I believe in action over intent, I would say my greatest accomplishment during the pandemic has been to lead the India intervention on behalf of the industry & my previous employer for COVID-19 relief efforts, fulfilling over 60% of the country’s estimated requirement of PPE suits in the first three months of the Pandemic, which was appreciated widely by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Textiles. Keeping medical doctors and frontline workers safe have been at the top of my agenda. This also contributed to and resulted in policy change exempting all medical donations from duties, benefitting the entire industry. Had several opportunities to lead multi-regional and interdepartmental teams across time zones to drive relief efforts and successfully navigated over five policy changes in China, working alongside senior bureaucrats and PSUs in India. The project won critical appreciation of the senior-most stakeholders in the Government and inspired similar process outcomes and wide adoption in the industry. We also partnered with NIIT Foundation currently and launched the Zupee Skills Academy to empower underserved communities”
Dr. Chaturvedi is currently chairing FICCI’s Women in Technology, Policy & Leadership sub-committee. In the past, she has been the Global Co-Chair of the Netmundial Initiative, a response from global governments after the ‘Snowden Revelations’ on the future of the Internet. She also has been the Member of the UN Internet Governance Forum (MAG), appointed by the UN Secretary General, as well as on the Board of UK India Business Council (UKIBC) & IGFSA. She has been recognised for her contribution to Internet governance & Cybersecurity through the IVLP, a US State Department fellowship & the NIXI, GOI fellowships. Dr Chaturvedi is a distinguished public policy and communications leader who has emerged as a leading voice for policy change putting technology at the centre of good governance and the fulfilment of a fully connected and empowered Digital India. She believes in building bridges and working with the government through industry academia partnerships. Subi has contributed immensely towards the upliftment of women, deepening democracy, enhancing greater participation of youth, especially young women in democratic processes and policy formulation, gaming for good, women in technology and girls in ICT.
