PM Modi bids teary-eyed farewell to Ghulam Nabi Azad, calls him a true friend

New Delhi, February 09, 2021: Saying that the term of house members from Jammu and Kashmir is set to end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday got emotional in parliament during a farewell to a rival politician, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad.

In a farewell address to the outgoing members, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), while recalling the years spent with the leader of the opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said that all the leaders have always highlighted the concern related to their native constituencies and a leader like Azad has always prioritized country and his contribution and suggestions are remarkable.

“He is a true friend,” PM Modi said while referring to Ghulam Nabi Azad.

“I am concerned about the member who will replace Gh Nabi Azad Ji since it’s going to be challenging for him. He was concerned about the party but equally related to this house and country,” Modi said.

“I consider him among the leaders who have always prioritized the country and I still remember his suggestion to hold an all-party meet during the COVID-19 pandemic,” PM Modi said.

Modi said that Azad has experience of 28 years which itself is a big thing. “Not only the opposition but he has experienced the power as well,” he said.

Getting nostalgic, PM Modi said once during a discussion in person here. Azad answered the reporters that all of us are a family under this single roof.

While holding back the tears, the emotional PM Modi said that during an attack in Kashmir valley when Gujarat tourists were stuck it was Azad who showed concerns constantly like they were his family members and kept making phone calls.

“Power comes and go, big offices come and go but how to handle all that one must learn from Ghulam Nabi Azad Ji,” emotional PM Modi said while raising his hand to salute the outgoing opposition leader.

PM Narendra Modi concluded his farewell speech, saying that “I appreciate and thank him for his contribution. My doors are always open to you and your suggestions. I expect it from you.”—(KNO)
