Weeklong registration-cum-awareness programme by Labour Department concludes at Zanskar
KARGIL, JULY 15, 2021: Weeklong registration-cum-awareness programme by Labour Department Kargil in continuation with the ongoing “governance at doorstep” initiative concluded at Zanskar here today.
Under the said programme, a camp office was established in the sub division wherein more than 200 new registration forms were issued to the locals while over 20 expired labour cards were also renewed.
Furthermore, more than 250 forms of scholarship schemes were circulated among the laborers, and the department also verified the labour cards of more than 500 labourers.
The labour community was also made aware about various schemes of the Labour Department through awareness sessions in which more than 400 locals participated throughout the week at TRC Padum, Rangdum, Tashitongday and other locations.
Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kargil Raziya Khatoon while briefing about the tour expressed that the Labour Department is fully committed to protect and guard the rights of the labour community in Kargil District besides implementing various schemes for their welfare.
She also briefed about the ongoing projects like the construction of labour sarais at different sub divisional headquarters, so that in future labourers may not face any difficulties in getting accommodation during the initial days of their work, adding she said that the department has also issued guidelines to employers and contractors from time to time to provide a dignified employment to the laborers at their sites.
