VC SKUAST-J inaugurates Water Cooler in the presence of President TAJ at Main Campus Chatha
Jammu, March 07, 2021: Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu Dr. JP Sharma inaugurated 60/80 Ltr. Capacity water cooler in the presence of President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma at Main Campus Chatha of SKUAST-Jammu. The water cooler was donated by SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu in the loving memory of their member Professor R.K. Gupta, who left for heavenly abode on 25th December, 2020 at Max Hospital, New Delhi.
On the occasion, VC Dr. JP Sharma informed that Dr R.K.Gupta, in his capacity as Vice Chancellor and Director Research SKUAST-J contributed a lot on professional and social front during tough COVID times which was appreciated and admired in the society on various professional forums / social functions. Dr. J.P. Sharma further informed that in recognition of his lifetime work, SKUAST Jammu in an obituary congregation, recently released broad bean variety in the name of Late Prof (Dr) RK Gupta. President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma, while enlisting Professor Gupta’s contributions in academics, research and institutional building informed that he worked relentlessly during his lifetime to achieve innumerable accolades / appreciations in terms of distinctions, scholarships, awards and his death is a great loss to community of researchers and his research contributions will always be remembered by this farm varsity. On the occasion, Mrs Anju Gupta, wife of Late Dr. Gupta, proposed for the institution of Prof. RK Gupta memorial gold medal in the discipline of plant breeding, which was principally agreed by Hon’ble VC SKUAST-J.
Besides executive committee of TAJ – Prof. RK Samnotra, Dr. Rajeev Sangra, Dr. PK Rai, Dr Amitesh Sharma, the function was attended by Dr. Jagpaul Sharma Director Research, Dr. Bikram Singh Dean Agriculture, Dr MS Bhadwal Dean Veterinary Sciences, Dr. Anil Sharma Chief Scientist & I/c Farming System Research, Dr. Mahital Jamwal Deputy Director Research, Sh PDK Uppal Ex-President NTEA-J, Sh NK Raina Security Officer, President Non Teaching Sh KD Singh, Sh Tekrajan and non teaching staff/students of SKUAST-J
