Traffic Police City Jammu begins awareness campaign on Traffic Rules and Regulations
Jammu, June 21, 2021: With the rising traffic influx in the city due to relaxation in lockdown restrictions, Jammu Traffic Police has begun an awareness campaign to create awareness amongst people on “Rules, Regulations and Safe Driving”.
A meeting was convened by Dr Koshal Kumar Sharma, JKPS, SSP Traffic Police City Jammu to educate people about “Rules, Regulations & Safe Driving” at TPL Jammu, which was attended by Sh Pardeep Singh Gouria, Addl SP Traffic Jammu, Ms Shivali Kotwal, DySP Traffic City North, Sh Sunil Singh, DySP Traffic City South, Sh Neeraj Paddyar, DySP Traffic City Rural and all DTI’s of Traffic City Jammu.
SSP Traffic said that as people are concerned regarding hefty fines introduced in the MV Act 2019, so it becomes imperative to make general public aware of these ammendments, for which a 10 day Awareness Campaign has been launched. The officers were advised to make all possible efforts to educate violators on road.
The Traffic Police has put up banners depicting penalties for violations of traffic rules at major spots in the City for the information of general public.
During the Awareness Programme, two wheeler riders, drivers etc. were asked not to drive vehicles in negligent manner. They were also made aware about traffic norms to be followed like compulsory wearing of helmet for rider and pillion rider above the age of 4, wearing safety belt, high security smart number plate, following traffic signals etc.
At a few places i.e. Kachi Chowni, Parade, Janipur, Bus Stand etc. pedestrians were also told to be cautious while walking or crossing roads and were requested not to use mobile phones while walking as it might cause fatal accidents.
Finally, SSP Traffic said that the Covid-19 pandemic has been a unique situation for everyone in the country. Since we are coming out of it, we cannot afford to lose our lives in fatal road accidents on the road. After this 10 day Awareness Campaign, i.e. from 1 July, Provisions of MV Act 2019 shall be strictly implemented on ground against the violators and they may have to pay heavy penalties as per law.
SSP Traffic Jammu appealed to all the stakeholders to co-operate with Traffic Police in maintaining Traffic discipline on road and save many lives because life is very precious.
He also appealed to the media to join with Traffic Police through their platforms and make the public aware of traffic rules.
