Surekha Sikri suffers second brain stroke, admitted to ICU at Juhu’s Criticare Hospital

Actress Surekha Sikri of Badhaai Ho and Balika Vadhu fame has reportedly suffered a brain stroke. The actress has been admitted to the ICU of Juhu’s Criticare Hospital. The news was confirmed by DNA and it seems the authorities are taking care of all the documentation regarding her treatment. This is the second time, she is suffering from a brain stroke. In 2018, she had a stroke when she was shooting for a TV show in Mahabaleshwar. It seems she fell down and hit her head badly. It led to a stroke. It left her paralysed as well. However, she made a full recovery gradually. The actress had also resumed work. Surekha Sikri was last seen in Ghost Stories on Netflix. Her first stroke happened just after she finished her work in Badhaai Ho.

The role of a feisty grandmother in Badhaai Ho is immortal in modern Bollywood history. She nailed it and how. She won her third National Award for that performance. In a statement, she said, “National Award for ‘Badhaai Ho’ is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. It is a great feeling right now. I got a call from the director just now informing about the National Award win. I wish he could have won the award. I thank all the people who liked the concept and the film and it feels great when your work gets appreciated.”

She has won in the Best Supporting Actor (Female) category. When Surekha Sikri arrived at the 66th National Film Awards in a wheelchair, the whole area resonated with a standing ovation. Due to the pandemic, the Bombay High Court had said that actors over the age of 65 won’t be allowed to work keeping in mind the situation. However, the decision was overruled. Surekha Sikri was very happy with the development. She said, “I am feeling extremely relieved with this decision. I think it’s a very positive move and I am waiting to get back to the action.” It seems her agent Vivek Sidhwani is with her.
