Apni Party discusses political situation, organizational issues
Jammu, June 09, 2021: Manjit Singh, Provincial President, and Former Minister today demanded restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before assembly elections.
In a statement to the press, Manjit Singh said that the Govt. of India must fulfill its promise to the people of J&K which they made from the floor of the Parliament.
“The demand of the people of Jammu as well as Kashmir should be accepted and no further delay should be made,” he said. Manjit Singh was speaking before a party meeting convened to discuss the present political situation and organizational issues. During the Party meeting, the leaders from different areas of Jammu highlighted issues of the people and their demands.
The leaders conveyed to the Provincial President Jammu that the people are not in favour of the continuation of J&K’s status as Union Territory.
“There is anger among the people against the bureaucracy. The officials have failed to perform on the ground and it has attracted displeasure of the people and people also avoid going to the Govt. offices for their work as no one listens to them,” he added.
He said that the civil secretariat which used to be flooded with the people from all parts of J&K wears a deserted look.
“The time has come when Assembly Elections should be announced and before doing so, the GoI should restore Statehood to J&K,” he added.
The developmental works have stopped, and unemployment has increased. To restore the confidence of the people, the holding of assembly elections is a must. An elected Govt. is answerable to the people and the bureaucracy has no such accountability. Therefore, they do work as per their wishes and it has made the people suffer and the developmental projects to delay,” said the Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh.
