Tourism on decline in Bhaderwah due to poor facilities: Anuj Manhas

Urges Govt to constitute team officials to assess ground reality

BHADERWAH, June 09, 2021: Anuj Manhas, Provincial President Student Wing, Apni Party has expressed his concern over the negligent approach of the Tourism Dept. towards the promotion of the tourism sites in hilly district Doda.

“It is very unfortunate that the Tourism Dept. takes a half-hearted effort to promote tourism as well as provide facilities for the visitors to contribute to the economy of Bhaderwah,” said Manhas in his statement to the press.

He said that the tourism sector is facing the brunt of poor planning and lack of interest by the Dept concerned. “There is no proper guidance for the tourists in Bhaderwah, accommodation, and cleanliness. As far as restaurants are concerned, the tourists find it hard to find suitable and hygienic family restaurants,” he said.

The Tourism Dept. should have taken a lead in providing training to the restaurants to provide quality products to the tourists. “In absence of facilities for the tourists, the graph has gone down and it has affected the local business to an extent,” he said.

He demanded that the Govt. should formulate a committee and this committee should visit Bhaderwah and hold interaction with the people doing business in the tourism sector.

“The ground feedback is must. Tourism can only be promoted in Bhaderwah when ground reality is changed with proper facilities,” he said.

He said that the families come to Bhaderwah on seeing the scenic beauty of mountains and lush green grazing fields. However, when they physically come to Bhaderwah they face harsh reality i.e., no health care facility for them, no guidance, no cleanliness of guest houses, hotels, unhygienic food among other things makes the tourists never return.

He urged the Govt to look into the issues for the promotion of tourism in Bhaderwah, Doda. He said the mobile communication facilities are not available at major tourist places.

As far as road connectivity is concerned, he said “They are not well developed for connecting various tourist places in Bhaderwah. There should be proper washroom and dustbin facilities at tourist places.

He said that ecotourism should be promoted in Chinta Valley, Seoj Meadow, Padri, Sartingal, and Jai Valley.
