Post flash floods: EC Syed Abass reviews relief, rehabilitation measures in Suru area

KARGIL, AUGUST 03, 2021: In order to review the progress of restoration of irrigation khuls, roads and drinking water supply lines atKhawos and adjacent villagesin the aftermath of the recent flashfloods, Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abass Razvi who is also the Councilor of Tai Suru Constituency in the LAHDC conducted an extensive visit of the area here on Monday.

The EC was accompanied by the Councilor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Muhammad, Councilor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, Tehsildar Tai Suru Sajjad Hussain, engineers from I&FC and PHE besides other concerned officers during the visit.

At Yuljuk, EC Aga Syed Abass Razvi directed the concerned officers of I&FC to restore the irrigation khul affected by flash floods at the earliest possible. He also directed the concerned officers of PHE to drain out the contaminated water inside the water reservoir and make drinking water available for the villagers, inspected the extent of damages to houses affected by the flash floods and assured locals that due compensation will be given to the affected families.

The EC also visited Khawos village and inquired from the Tehsildar Tai Suru about the details collected by the officials for compensation of property damages to affected families in the aftermath of flash floods.

The Tehsildar informed the EC that the assessment of property damages estimate at completion stage and will be forwarded to the higher authorities for further course of action.

EC Syed Abbas also visited the adjoining villages Tachay Thang, Ranthak and Bonikhar. The villagers informed the EC that there is immediate need of protection bund at Charkatnala, restoration of irrigation khuls, deployment of machinery for land development and rehabilitation of the displaced families.

The EC after giving patient hearing to all issues of locals said that immediate steps will be taken by the Administration to address the grievances as early as possible.

Meanwhile, the EC also held a detailed meeting with the concerned officials to review the present rehabilitation and restoration works in Suru area and directed the concerned officers to address people’s issues on priority. He also appreciated the officers and officials of concerned departments for their role in the relief and rehabilitation measures of the affected population at such crucial juncture.
