NC OBC Cell laments over slow pace in implementation of various welfare schemes

UDHAMPUR, March 12, 2021: National Conference OBC Cell today lamented over the administrative apathy in effective implementation of various schemes for socio-economic upliftment of weaker sections of the society, stating that no serious effort is being made to empower them in terms of employment and provision of incentives to set up income generating units.

“There is need to revamp the schemes and welfare measures, keeping in view the changing times”, Vice Chairperson OBC Cell Mr Abdul Gani Teli said, while addressing a gathering here at Udhampur.

He sought effective and we’ll coordinated effort for implementation of various schemes ameliorating the lot of weaker sections and also emphasized the need for enhancing the reservation quota for these sections bringing this at par with per several other states of the country.

Referring to the neglect of OBCs during the past six years, Mr Teli recalled the contribution of successive National Conference governments towards the welfare and empowerment of Other Backward Classes. These initiatives got tremendous setback during recent years, which has restarted the growth of these communities.

The Co- Chairperson sought nomination of members of these communities in various District Development Boards/ Corporations, as at present these bodies are not being represented by this reserved category. He also expressed concern over fund starvation for the welfare schemes of the OBCs in the designated, Corporation, saying this has caused huge dent in the momentum of welfare initiatives.

He also expressed serious concern over the non functioning of OBC Development Advisory Board as no member has been nominated from any castes till date since the formation of this Board by the present Government.

Mr Teli sought immediate redressal of the grievances of these communities, which have increased manifold over the years.

The Co-Chairperson said National Conference is the only party which can satiate the urges and aspirations of all segments of the society, irrespective of region, religion, caste or creed. The party has a track record of public service that has withstood the test of times. He said National Conference stands guarantee to peace, progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir.

The OBC people also celebrated the Birthday of Mr Omar Abdullah Vice President J&K National Conference  and served Birthday cake to the participants.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included : Mr Sunil Verma, Mr Jagdish Bhaderwaj, Mr Akash Verma, Mr Anayatullah, ch. Abdul Gani, Mr Satpal, Mr S. Parvinder Singh, Mr Ashok Mehra, Mrs Rekha Devi, Mrs Lajja Devi, Mrs Sunita Mehra, Mr Sajad Ahmed, Mrs Soma Devi and others.
