Kashmiri Pandit Community Celebrates Victory as Ration Coupon Policy Reversed

Jammu, April 22, 2024: Following a fervent campaign led by relief holders and spearheaded by Kuldeep Kashmiri, working president of the All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC), the recent decision to issue ration coupons on a monthly basis has been successfully overturned. The relief organization has now reverted to the original system of issuing coupons annually, much to the relief and satisfaction of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

Kuldeep Kashmiri extended heartfelt congratulations to all those who participated in the campaign, acknowledging their unwavering support in reinstating the yearly coupon system. He expressed particular gratitude towards Atal Duloo, the Chief Secretary of J&K, for his understanding of the community’s plight and prompt action in issuing the order to reverse the policy.

The campaign also saw significant contributions from relief holder activists including Sunil Pandita, Bharat Kachoo, Ravinder Koul, and Sunil Fotedar, among many others. Their dedication to the cause played a crucial role in achieving this positive outcome.

While the Chief Secretary’s order was issued on April 18th, the relief organization took until April 22nd to implement the change. This delay prompted concerns of renewed agitation within the community. However, with the order now in effect, an appointment has been scheduled with the Chief Secretary for tomorrow to discuss further matters and ensure continued cooperation.

The reversal of the ration coupon policy marks a significant victory for the Kashmiri Pandit community, highlighting the power of collective action and advocacy.
