JKNPP elects Bhim Singh as State President

Jammu, February 12, 2021: After hectic deliberations by senior leadership, Working Committee members and District Presidents of JKNPP both in persons and virtual mode/video calling over the elections of State President for Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh (UTs).
Today on February 12, 2021 afternoon at JKNPP Office, Jammu, I, P.K Ganju, Returning Officer for the Party election, declare Chief Patron & Founder Prof.Bhim Singh elected as the President of Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party for 2021-23 ending March.
Most of the 20 District Presidents, Working Committee members, others Office bearers voted virtually in favour of Prof.Bhim Singh to be elected as the President of JKNPP for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (UTs).
Today also to conclude the long drawn deliberations over election of state President, following resignation of former President Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia it was unanimously declared that Prof. Bhim Singh shall be the President of JKNPP.
I, P.K Ganju, Returning Officer for JKNPP elections have taken this on record and thereby declared Prof.Bhim Singh as elected President JKNPP. The Working Committee and State Secretariat stand as per election already held.

Prof. Bhim Singh
*        A noted Jurist and Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India, a prolific writer and Author of International repute. His books have been acclaimed in India and abroad. An International Sr. Advocate in the International Court of Justice.
*        Prof. Bhim Singh Graduated in Sciences from the University of Jammu and Kashmir in 1963, Post Graduate in Political Science and Graduated in Law from the Aligarh Muslim University in 1966-67. He was admitted to the Bar in Lincoln’s Inn (1971) and a Post Graduate in Law (LL.M.) with highest distinction in the Constitutional, the Islamic and the International Law from the London University (1972). Studied in London School of Economics, Kings College and the School of Oriental and African Studies (London), Dare-Alum (Egypt), PLO Research Centre (Beirut), Lebanon.

“Rightly to be called, ‘Vishwa Ratna’, the only person in the world who could refuse the 7.3 million barrels contract by the UN Committee dealing with ‘Oil-for-food’ programme in sanctions struck Iraq. Saying no to 7.3 million dollars  worth oil vouchers which could have earned nearly Rs.45 crores as commission. Glorifying India’s name in the world. Mr. Paul Volcker, Head of the UN Committee reported this fact that Bhim Singh did not accept the oil offer”. (Reference to Table 3 of Vol.II of the Volcker Report)

Prof. Bhim Singh

*          Born in a remote village, Bhugterian in District Udhampur with his schooling in the village school, he joined Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu in 1957. He passed most of his examinations, B.Sc., LL.B while under detention. He was arrested 54 times with total period of detention a little above eight years. He has been fighting for justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure the benefit of fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution of India to every Indian citizen residing in Jammu and Kashmir. He resigned from the J&K Assembly in 1982 from the Membership of Congress Party and founded J&K National Panthers Party with an agenda to ensure justice and equity to every person in J&K. He was awarded a compensation of Rs.50,000/- by the Supreme Court of India for his illegal detention as a member of Legislative Assembly in 1985. The case as Bhim Singh, MLA vs. State of J&K and others (AIR 1986 SC 494, 1986 (CrilJ 192, 1985 (2) Scale 1117) on 22/11/1985.  This judgment brought a revolution in the law of torts in India.

N.B:- The first person in the world who crossed the Western Sahara Desert (Spanish) in 1971 on Motorcycle from Morocco to Senegal, 2100 kms. in 20 days.
2.       The first Indian who travelled on Peace Mission around the world on two-wheels for over five years travelling through more than 120 countries of the world. Several countries have since split into many more i.e. USSR, Yugoslavia.
3.       His association with Arab leaders particularly President Saddam Hussein of Iraq and PLO Supremo, Mr. Yasir Arafat has built strong emotional and political ties with the Arab world.

5.       Prof. Bhim Singh resigned from the State Assembly in 1982 protesting against the anti-national legislation (Resettlement Act) passed by NC and Congress giving clearance for the settlement of nearly five lacs Pakistanis whose relations had migrated to Pakistan during partition. Prof. Bhim Singh is contesting this case in the Supreme Court. The Act stands stayed. Prof. Bhim Singh resigned as a Member, Legislative Council in 2008 protesting against the imposition of present government in J&K.
