GDC Thannamandi observes International Day Against Child Labour

Rajouri, June 12, 2021: IQAC cell of GDC Thannamandi Rajouri under the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava organised an online talk on CHILD LABOUR: AN INVISIBLE PANDEMIC to observe INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR.

Prof. Samridhi Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Home Science (Human Development) University of Jammu was the speaker on the occasion.

The programme was organised under the patronship of Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college. Prof. Raheela Mushtaq, convener IQAC was the event coordinator.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Raheela Mushtaq and the proceedings were carried out by Prof Ajaz Nazir, HOD physics and member IQAC. In her talk Prof. Arora gave a detailed account on child rights and child labour.

Her topic of the talk was child labour an invisible pandemic. She focussed on child labour and insisted it to be a serious violation of child rights. She explained how Covid-19 pandemic has an increased risk of child labour.

She also talked about the statistics, issues, concerns, causes and consequences of child labour. Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college congratulated the IQAC cell for organising the programme. He also stressed upon all the participants to further aware the general masses of the society against the child labour.

The programme was attended by a good no. of students and all the faculty members. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ajaz Nazir.
