KARGIL MAY 31, 2021: In order to educate and spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco amongst the people in general and students’ community in particular, Government Degree College (GDC) Drass celebrated World No Tobacco Day, 2021 in the college seminar hall here today.
On the occasion, Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abassi while addressing the students advised them not to indulge in smoking or chewing of tobacco or addiction in any form. He urged them to make friends with books which are the true guide for life.
Meanwhile, it was reiterated that addiction can spoil the lives of entire families and the message to avoid smoking is highly recommended especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where research has established that smokers are more prone to serious effects of the Coronavirus.
The programme ended with an oath taking ceremony in which the faculty members and students took pledge that they will not smoke or use any form of tobacco. They also pledged to advise and guide their families, friends and students to avoid tobacco.
