EC Syed Abbas, EC Phunsok Tashi visit Sankoo, Tai Suru 

Inspect pace of progress on PWD, RDD, Tourism related works

KARGIL, JUNE 25, 2021: Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi along with the Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi visited Sankoo and Tai Suru Block here today.

During the course of the visit, the EC Tourism and EC Works took stock of the pace of progress on various on-going developmental works including those under the PWD, Rural Development and Tourism Sectors.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kargil Development Authority (KDA) Abdul Gaffar Zargar, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Councillor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Muhammad, Councillor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, Councillor Stakpa Umba Ghulam Haider, Executive Engineers of SVD Sankoo and REW Kargil, AD Tourism Kargil, engineers besides other concerned officers accompanied the EC Works and EC Tourism during the tour.

At Lankarchay, the EC Works and EC Tourism inspected the pace of on-going works and the progress achieved on the construction of various limbs at Yateem Maktab and Thang Lankarchay Link Road and Link Road Grong Mohallah being constructed at a cost of Rs 282 lacs and Rs 170 lacs respectively under the District Plan.

The Executive Engineer SVD Sankoo informed that the construction works of the roads is going on in full swing, and Link Road Grong Mohallah will be completed by the end of this year while Yateem Maktab and Thang Lankarchay Link Road is expected to be completed next year.

The EC Works and EC Tourism also inspected the on-going construction works of Panchayat Ghars under SDP at Lankarchay and Biama Purtikchay at a cost of Rs 25 lacs each, 2 storey BDO and BDC Office at Tai Suru at a cost of Rs 50 lacs, construction of Common Facility Centre (CFC) at Tai Suru and Panikhar at Rs 30 lacs each and other related works.

Other rural development works inspected by the EC Works and EC Tourism included the on-going construction works of Labour Sarai and Labour Guest House near Checheysna Sankoo at a cost of Rs 1 crore under SDP, and construction of public library and public park under the State Sector at cost of Rs 29 lacs and Rs 31.06 lacs respectively.

Expressing satisfaction on the pace of progress achieved on various PWD and RDD works, the EC Works and EC Tourism appreciated the role of the concerned executing agencies and stressed them to work with continued zeal to ensure completion of the remaining works within the set timelines while also laying due focus on quality and quantity parameters, so that the general population of various villages are benefitted from these schemes.

Regarding the various infrastructural development works of Tourism Sector, EC Phunsok Tashi and EC Syed Abbas inquired from the officers about the establishment of view point and cafeteria at Shokila sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1 crore under SDP and instructed them to kick start work on the project at the earliest.

As regards to the development of necessary infrastructure for development of Maitreya Buddha Statue site at Karpokhar including the construction of footpath, view deck, repair and renovation of cafeteria, landscaping and other allied works approved at cost of Rs 95.34 lacs under the District Plan, the engineers concerned informed the EC Works and EC Tourism that work has already been started on the project.

Pertaining to the works on the development of amusement/childrens’/picnic park at Karpokhar approved at a cost of Rs 93.37 lacs under the District Capex Budget,  it was informed that tendering process is presently underway, adding that the project would include landscaping, construction of gate and parking lot, river front development works, lighting and other allied works.

At Tangole, EC Phunsok Tashi and EC Syed Abbas while underlining the potential of Rdwazam on account of its peculiar rock structures to emerge as a tourist attraction in the area, instructed the concerned officers to prepare a DPR in this regard.

While interacting with the inhabitants of various villages of Sankoo and Tai Suru Block during the tour, the EC Works and EC Tourism patiently listened to their issues and developmental needs and assured of suitable follow up.

  EC Phunsok Tashi and EC Syed Abbas said there is no dearth of funds and the developmental activities are going at a new pace under the UT Administration.

The EC Works and EC Tourism said that the LAHDC Kargil under the able leadership of the Chief Executive Councilor, Feroz Ahmad Khan is taking concrete measures to accelerate the pace of developmental works in all sectors, and there will be a new scenario in terms of infrastructural development in the years to come.
