Crackdown on illicit liquor, 2000 litres of Lahan destroyed, Hooch seized: Reasi Police
Reasi, May 18, 2021:Team Police Post Dera Baba conducted raids on a river islands in river Chenab, busted 02 illicit liquor distillation units & has seized all tools & utensils including 15 drums of 2200 litres capacity, a Tub, 12 Plastic cans of 10 litres each used for storing nn transporting hooch alongwith some other utensils and recovered 15 litres of illicit liquor. 2000 Litres of Lahan kept for fermentation was destroyed on the spot.
On seeing the first few policemen of the team, accused persons namely 1) Charan Singh S/O Baldev Singh 2) Gulwinder Singh S/O Baldev Singh 3) Surjeet Singh S/O Gulwinder Singh all residents of Bhabbar Brahamana 4) Tarlok Chand S/O Ram Saran R/O Tanda attacked the Police party. All police team that had already cordoned the river island easily narrowed & nabbed all criminals.
In this regards FIR.No 102/2021 U/S 353, 336, 307 IPC, 48(e) Excise Act registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation initiated.
Pertinent to mention that accused Gulwinder Singh is a habitual offender and was already arrested in case FIR No 141/2018 US 48(b)(e) Excise Act of Police Station Reasi and still facing trial in court of law.
People of the area in general & women in particular appreciated the efforts of Reasi police through mobile phone calls in curbing the menace of illicit liquor in the area.
