COVID-19: J&K reports 8 deaths, 671 positive cases

Srinagar reports 133 cases, Case tally at 310688; death toll mounts to 4,234, active cases decrease to 10,094, recovery rate at 95.39 percent

Jammu, June 18, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Friday witnessed 08 deaths due to Covid-19 while as 671 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 10,094.

With eight more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,234 and 671 fresh positive cases reported on Friday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 310,688

Of the exact number of 310, 688 cases, 192,708 are from Kashmir division and 117,980 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 672 new cases, 445 belong to Kashmir division while as 226 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 192,708 including 183,985 recoveries and 2,172 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 117,780 including 112,375 recoveries and 2,062 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 10,094 including 6,551 from Kashmir division and 3,543 from Jammu division.

With 1,171 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 296,360 which is 95.39 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 133 from Srinagar, 66 from Baramulla, 60 from Budgam, 34 from Pulwama, 42 from Kupwara, 24 from Anantnag, 33 from Bandipora, 20 from Ganderbal, 29 from Kulgam and 04 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 226 from Jammu division include 53 from Jammu, 11 from Udhampur, 24 from Rajouri, 46 from Doda, 12 from Kathua, 02  from Samba, 20 from Kishtwar, 16 from Poonch, 36 from Ramban and 06 from Reasi,” officials disclosed

Meanwhile, authorities on Friday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and toll of total cases of Mucormycosis stands at 22.

Out of 08 deaths reported today, 02 died in GMC Doda, 01 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in Amandeep Hosp Pathankot, 02 in SMHS Srinagar, 01 in DH Ganderbal & 01 in DH Kulgam.

As per officials figures, 68,895 positive cases including 815 deaths and 66,448  recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,953 including 276 deaths and 21,896 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,182 including 21,169 recoveries and 200 deaths are from Budgam, 14,624 including 13,456 recoveries and 185 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,502 including 158 deaths and 12,696 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,717  including 14,921 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,108 cases including 8,670 and 98 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,381 including 9,040 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,820 including 10,309 recoveries and 111 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,526 including 5,380 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,187 including 49,981 recoveries and 1,119 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,053 including 10,761 recoveries and 131 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,525  including 10,012 recoveries and 212 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,554 including 5,634 recoveries and 104 deaths are from Doda, 9,133 including 8,884 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,022 including 6,743 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Samba, 4,309 including 4,131 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,926 including 5,465 recoveries and 87 deaths are from Poonch, 5,714 including 5,361 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Ramban and 5,557 including 5,403 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,292,522 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 43,061 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 10,094 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,054,443 persons have completed surveillance period and 180,690 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 9,403,958 samples are available. Out of 9,403,958 the number of samples tested negative stands at 9,093,270 while as 310,688 have tested positive, among them 10,094 persons are active, 296,360 persons have recovered and 4,234 persons have died—(KNO)
