Bishnah Congressmen gear for hearty welcome to Azad

Bishnah, February 25, 2021: Appreciating his contributions to bring Jammu and Kashmir on the national firmament and his continuous endeavour for fight for the just cause of the Union Territory including restoration of the statehood status the Congress leaders and workers of Bishnah and Arnia tehsils today expressed their full support to former chief minister and ex-Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad in his fight in this direction.

In a meeting held here today on the eve of Mr Azad’s first visit to Jammu after his term as Rajya Sabha MP ended, the party rank and file under the leadership of senior leader and member AICC, Mr Mohinder Bhardwaj resolved to accord a hearty welcome to Mr Azad whom they described as one of the finest Chief Ministers that the erstwhile state had. The Congressmen also urged the party high command to take immediate steps for rejuvenating the party set up in Jammu and Kashmir under the patronage of Mr Azad.

The local workers and leaders participating in a meeting organised to discuss plans in relation to Mr Azad’s visit expressed serious concern on the astronomic rise in prices of petrol and diesel which they felt have directly hit the common man particularly the farmers who are the worst sufferers. At the same time while appreciating former Congress president Mr Rahul Gandhi’s wholehearted support to the cause of the farmers, they also resolved to fully back the farmers’ just demands which they felt were central to their survival in future.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Bhardwaj said that in recent times the state government headed by Mr Azad was the most secular which had worked for the overall development of the former state. He expressed hope that Mr Azad would continue to guide the Congress in the newly formed Union Territory as only this party can provide a viable alternative that can carry all sections of the society together.

Among others who addressed the meeting were Ashok Dubey, Babu Ram Saini, Diwan Chand Khajuria, Sub. Vijay Kumar, Ghanishyam Sharma, Darshan Kumar Sharma, Kuldeep Raj, Capt. Wazir Singh, Attar Singh, Raj Kumar, Kasturi Lal Lamberdar, Ajay Sharma, Rajeev Sharma, Nanak Chand, Sham Singh Lamberdar, Tara Singh, Rahul, Shyam Choudhary, Ravi Kumar and many others.
