Have curbed infiltration, controlled militancy in J&K: MoS Home G K Reddy
J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performs bhoomi pujan ceremony for Sri Venkateswara Swamy (Balaji) Temple, Jammu
Jammu, June 13, 2021: J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed the bhoomi pujan ceremony for Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Jammu on Sunday, officials said.
Officials told that Lt Governor along with YV Subba Reddy, Chairman of Tirumla Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the temple, participated in bhoomi poojan ceremony at proposed site Majeen on Jammu-Srinagar national Highway.
The grand ceremony witnessed participation by around 28 board members of TTD trust, which includes legislators of Andhra Pradesh and senior IAS officers. Around 12 special invitees will graced the occasion.
As per site engineers, out of total 62 acres of allotted land to the trust, work will commence on 17 acres in first phase.
Union Minister of State for Home G Kishen Reddy Sunday said that the Government of India has managed to curb infiltration and militancy stands controlled in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of (Swami Venkateshwar temple) Balaji temple in Jammu, the MoS Home said that in the past two years the situation has changed across India and J&K. “We have managed to curb infiltration and militancy stands controlled in J&K. Not more than a couple of incidents of violence were reported in India including J&K in the past two years,” Reddy said.
He said that Covid slowed down the process of development in J&K. “There was a visit of 36 union ministers to J&K earlier, but Covid played a spoilsport. Developmental projects got a hit due to the pandemic but once the pandemic ends, we will take J&K UT to new heights on the development front,” the Union MoS Home said.
He said pilgrims who would visit Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra will also have an opportunity to visit Balaji temple and pay obeisance here.
Reddy chaired a security review meeting at Rajbhawan Jammu before flying back to New Delhi later this afternoon (PTK)
