DDC elections gave rise to second line leadership: JKPCC Chief
Party felicitates DDC members, candidates; holds threadbare, discussions on social political scenario in J&K
Srinagar, January 18, 2021: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Monday felicitated newly elected District Development council (DDC) members and other contesting candidates at Srinagar party office and hailed their dedication and hard work.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), JKPCC also held threadbare discussions over the organizational affairs and activities in J&K and vowed to continue to work for the development and wellbeing of the people.
In a meeting of senior party leaders, former legislators, District Presidents and DDC members, held at Srinagar Party office, JKPCC felicitated contested and elected DDC members for the hard work and enthusiasm shown by them in the recently held DDC elections in J&K.
The meeting was presided over by JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir. Those who attended and addressed the meeting included senior leaders Former Minister Taj Mohi U Din, Vice President Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Bashir Ahmad Magrey Former Legislators, Surinder Singh Channi, District Presidents of the valley, DDC Candidates of Kashmir and others party leaders.
On this occasion, JKPCC president felicitated newly elected DDC members and other contesting candidates, hailing their hard work and dedication they have shown during the elections and urged them to continue to work for the people.
JKPCC president also handed over appreciation certificates to DDC contestants/Members assuring that they will be adjusted in the organization.
Addressing the meeting, Mir said despite the difficult situation confronted Congress leaders and DDC candidates after filing their nomination; they remained committed to fight for people’s rights and their development at grass roots level, besides strengthening the democracy by ensuring their participation in the elections.
Our candidates gave a tough fight to rivals, which is highly appreciated and assured that those who contested DDC elections will be awarded with party positions, for the fact, they have given their best even after facing the ugliest situation and threats for being part of the democratic process, Mir said.
Mir said the recent DDC elections have given rise to second line leadership, which cannot be denied, whose contributions were remarkable. It is our bounden duty to provide them opportunities to work for the people of J&K, Mir added.
Congress Party will continue to work for strengthening the democratic institutions, any attempt to undermine their authorities will be thwarted, as that, the Party has always worked to strengthen the institutions benefitting people directly, it shall continue to do so, JKPCC President said.
