GDC Kargil celebrates World Youth Skills Day

Kargil, July 15, 2022: Career Counselling Cell, GDC Kargil in collaboration with the Department of Commerce today celebrated World Youth Skills Day with the theme transforming youth skills for the future.
The event was attended by officiating principal Salim Ahmad, faculty members of Department of Commerce, members of Career Counselling Cell, pass out and enrolled students of the college.
World Youth Skills Day is marked across the globe to raise social awareness of young people’s skills and aims to provide information on career opportunities and discuss how to prepare for a competitive job market.
At the outset, the attendees were briefed by Tsetan Dolkar, Assistant Professor Geography, member, Career Counselling Cell regarding the importance of the day in present context.
Officiating Principal, Salim Ahmad spoke about the need of skill acquisition in the present competitive scenario and increasing challenges of unemployment. The students were apprised about various skills that they could possibly look forward to acquire.
In the end, Stanzin Norphail, Assistant Professor, Commerce briefed about the successful conduct of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Youth Employment Programme (YEP) followed by distribution of certificates among 45 college pass-out candidates.
It was organized by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Mumbai in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Kargil under their CSR umbrella for building employability skills.
In total around 137 candidates registered and only 45 were declared successful. Some candidates also shared personal experiences and spoke about the course.
Lastly, the Career Counselling Cell and Department of Commerce on behalf of the college congratulated all the awardees and wished them good luck for their future.
