Academy condoles Padma Sachdev demise
Jammu, August 04, 2021: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today condoled the sad demise of Padma Sachdev renowned Dogri poetess and novelist who passed away today at 81.
A condolence meeting was held here this afternoon under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary Academy, Dr A S Amn .The Academy paid rich tributes to late Padma Sachdev and recalled her contribution to Dogri and Hindi literature.
In his telephonic address Rahul Pandey , Secretary Academy stated that the death of Padma Sachdev is big loos to Dogri literature in particular and Indian literature in general. Her absence will be long felt in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
Dr A S Amn who recalled his long personal association with the departed writer. Padma Sachdev was the member of various high power commiittes of Academy from time to time. She was a regular contributor to its Dogri and Hindi publications of Academy .
Dr. Javaid Rahi Chief Editor stated that being a writer par excellence, Padam Sachdev and was awarded with 4th highest civilian award in 2001 Padam Shri Besides Sarswati award, Sohad Award and Kabir Samman for poetry for the year 2007-08 given by Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Other who spoke on the occasion include Dr. Sudheer Mahajan SDA, Pupinder Singh Editor Punjabi, Dr. Shah Nawaz Editor cum cultural officer, Rita Khadyal Editor Hindi, Chanchal Sharma Asstt Editor Dogri, Yashpal Nirmal Asst Editor Dogri , Bhopinder Sing Manger Abhinav Theatre , Anil Tickoo ACO , Jammu others also spoke.
Dr. Ratan Basotra conducted the proceedings of the programme and also spoke about the contribution of late . She wrote several poetry collections, including Meri Kavita Mere Geet (My Poems, My Songs), which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1971, he added.
A two minute silence was also observed on the occasion.
