Youth should take lead to defeat drug menace: Sham Sharma (Ex Minister)

Jammu, April 4, 2021: Finals of the1st Gold Badminton Championship which is organised by GS Sports Club under supervision of Atul Sudan (President GS Sports Club) was  played today at Indoor Stadium Akhnoor. In Under-19s Keshav Manhas lifts the finals where as Abhishek Jha stood runner up. Men’s Single was won by Chetan Sharma where as Ashish Choudhary was runner up. In mens Double Sahil and Ashish won the finals whereas Ashok and Nikhil were runner ups. In Veterans Double Dharampal Gupta and Ashok Kumar won the finals while Rajpal Sharma and Raj Kumar were the runner ups.

Speaking on the occasion the Special Invitee Balbir Singh Jamwal (Secretary J&K Badminton Association) congratulated the organizing committee and support staff for organizing the event. He said that organizing such events are signs of youth towards a positive direction which is good for society and Country in whole. He  added that he feels happy seeing young physically fit players taking part in different sports activities.

Special Guest Surinder Sharma (President MC Akhnoor) said that the youth participating in different sports activities are playing an important role in creating a drug free atmosphere in society. He appealed to youth to involve more and more youth in such events. Further he aware youth to stay away from drugs and to immediately inform police if they found some in their friend circle or family involved in drug menace.

Zorawar Singh Jamwal Chairman Team Jammu appreciated the GS Sports Club and Civil Society of Akhnoor for organizing such events to engage people of all age groups together in sports activities. He requested the prominent and Civil Society of Akhnoor to play a vigilant role in society to defeat the crucial battle against drugs. He said Team Jammu is always standing with youth to lead society in fight against drugs. He said that Team Jammu along with GS Sports Club and Youth of area will take this noble cause to each and every village of Akhnoor to beat Drug menace. He appreciated the talent of the players and advocated for better infrastructure for them so that can represent in National and International games.

Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma (Chief Guest) highly appreciated the role of GS Sports Club for organizing such sports event in Akhnoor which will be greatly beneficial for the youths of the area to keep them aware and away from the drug abuse. Sham Lal Sharma urged youth to take a lead in decisive battle against drug menace. He further announced that soon we are going to have a full fledge Cricket Stadium in Jourian which is sanctioned by Hon’ble Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan. He informed the gathering that Land acquisition for stadium is in process. He further announced that outdoor stadium in Akhnoor will be started very soon.

Atul Sudan President GS Sports Club addressing the gathering said he is very thankful to all for supporting such a noble cause. He announced  soon we will organize such events in rural areas where we will get the opportunity to engage thousands of youth in building our society and nation stronger.  The event is sponsored by Sapolia Dental Clinic, Spartan Taxation and Consultancy services, education partner Eduhub Institute and JK Education Consultancy.
