Vijay Bakaya expresses anguish over covid deaths in Jammu
JAMMU, May 22, 2021: While expressing anguish over the unabated Covid related deaths in Jammu, General Secretary, Apni Party, Vijay Bakaya has wondered whether this is because of the low oxygen supply to serious patients and absence of specialists to manage acute distress of admitted patients.
Since new oxygen plants have been installed at various hospitals in different districts of J&K, it would be pertinent to check whether they are running efficiently and proper oxygen supply is being provided to patients in need.
He stated that there was, according to his information, only one Pulmonogist in Jammu and in most hospitals patients were attended to by non specialists.
If this was not true, then Bakaya demanded that doubts should be cleared and reasons for alarming mortality should be explained to the public as also what was being done to contain this trend.
Bakaya noted that there was only a marginal decline in infections despite lockdown and there seemed to be a need to extend it and enforce it strictly.
Bakaya was of the view that more unemployed MBBS BDS ISM doctors should be engaged on a temporary basis to manage the rush of patients.
