Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates 25th National Conference on e-Governance at SMVDU in Katra

The conference was a forum for discussion on some of the digital innovations and technologies that will play an important role in governance over the next decade to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy

Jammu, November 26, 2022: A two-day long 25th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) was inaugurated today by the Chief Guest Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India at Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra,. The conference is being organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in association with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The theme of the conference is “Bringing Citizens, Industry and Government closer”.
This conference was attended of over 1,000 delegates. The conference was a forum for discussion on some of the digital innovations and technologies that will play an important role in governance over the next decade to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
Addressing the conference, Dr Jitendera Singh said , “this is the first national conference in  J&K which is proud moment for J&K government. I am impressed by the initiative taken by J&K for good governance.”
Highlighting the achievements of Prime  Minister Narendra Modi during his regime for e-governance, Dr Jitendera said during last 8 years Modi led government started hundreds of e-projects for good governance with the mission for easy and convenient facilities for people in the  entire country for ease of doing works. He also threw lights on the e-governance initiatives of Modi government.
November 26 is observed as Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of India’s Constitution. As part of the festivities, Union Minister Jitendra Singh read the Preamble to the Constitution with all participants on November 26 at the NCeG’s inaugural session.
Discussions will emphasize on digital governance across the “whole-of-government,” the digital economy, strengthening the start-up ecosystem and job creation, modern laws to promote national growth and protect citizens’ rights, and so on.
The conference would give a boost to the country’s e-governance initiatives by allowing civil servants and industry leaders to showcase their successful e-governance interventions in improving end-to-end service delivery. The national awards for e-governance (NAeG) will be given to 18 e-governance initiatives at the central, state, and district levels, as well as academic and research institutions and public sector initiatives, in five categories. There are nine gold and nine silver awards.
During the event, an exhibition was held to highlight India’s achievements in the field of e-governance. Senior secretaries from the Government of India including V Srinivas, secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances; Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, government of Jammu and Kashmir also address the conference.
The Valedictory Session will be presided over by Shri Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir tomorrow, 27th November, 2022. Chief Minister of Haryana is also likely to attend the Valedictory Session which will witness launch of digital J&K initiatives and   of MoUs by the J& K Government.
