Theatre group presents annual report and honours academics for promoting arts in Jammu during anniversary celebrations.
Jammu, October 18, 2025: The Reflection Group celebrated its 2nd Foundation Day today with a grand cultural event at Abhinav Theatre, highlighted by a powerful and soul-stirring presentation of the Dogri play “Baba Jittmal.” The evening was a dual celebration of theatrical excellence and a formal acknowledgement of the group’s progress and the community that supports it.
The play, written by the eminent Dr. Gian Singh and creatively directed by Ravinder Sharma, enthralled the audience with its emotional depth and cultural richness. “Baba Jittmal” is a folk drama that beautifully portrays the life and legacy of the revered farmer-saint of Duggar Pradesh. Set against a rustic backdrop, the narrative explores timeless themes of land, spirituality, and sacrifice, following the titular character as he confronts social injustice and emerges as a symbol of truth and moral strength.
Performances were a standout, with Rohan Sharma delivering a deeply expressive portrayal of Baba Jittmal. Vrinda Gujral captivated the audience as Jojian, while Ravinder Sharma made a lasting impression as the antagonist, Mehta Bir Singh. They were strongly supported by an authentic cast including Drishty (Bua Kodi), Ajay (Isso), Akash (Ghaggi), and Param Sagar (Malli). Other notable performances came from Mukal Bains, Pooravi Sharma, Manik Sharma, Kandrav Sharma, Nitesh Kumar, Nitin Kumar, Yashvardan Singh, Raghuvansh, Vishnupriya, Monika Thapa, and Vaishnavi Sharma.
The production was a masterclass in technical coordination. The evocative music, composed by the late Sh. Surinder Manhas, formed the emotional core, with soulful singing by Surinder Manhas, Nandinni Kapoor, and Mukesh adding authentic depth. The visual aesthetics were enhanced by Shammi Damir’s makeup design, Pooja Sharma’s costumes, and Rohit Bains’s choreography. Rohan Sharma also served as the Assistant Director, contributing to the play’s overall coordination, while Brijesh Avtar Sharma’s impactful lighting design elevated the dramatic tone.
The formal ceremony was graced by Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj (MLA, Ramnagar) as the Chief Dignitary and Sh. Aseem Gupta as the Chief Guest. As part of the celebration, Rohit Bains, President of The Reflection Group, presented the Annual Report, highlighting the group’s activities and achievements over the past year.
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of distinguished Professors, Deans, and Heads of various Departments from educational institutions across Jammu. These academics were honoured for their instrumental role in promoting and supporting the theatre arts in the region.
The event was skillfully anchored by Avinash Lakhnotra, who kept the audience engaged throughout. Pooja Sharma presented the formal vote of thanks. The entire program was generously supported by sponsors Mukal Fashions and Asian Sales Corporation. The evening concluded with overwhelming appreciation for a production that not only celebrated Duggar heritage but also paid a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes of the soil.
