Thakur expresses gratitude to Prime Minister and Home Minister for timely action against Wasim Rizvi

Srinagar, March 14, 2021: The spokesperson of Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) for Jammu and Kashmir(J&K) Union Territory, Altaf Thakur on Sunday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister(PM) Narender Modi and Home Minister(HM) Amit Shah for the arrest of Waseem Rizvi, who has filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking removal of 26 verses of holy Quran.
He said persons like Rizvi are biggest threat to peace ,unity and communal harmony, adding that his arrest makes it ample clear that his party will not allow anyone to hurt the sentiments of people belonging to different religions.
“Holy Quran is our identity. It is a sacred book which promotes secularism, non-violence, brotherhood, etc.
The Muslims will not tolerate any kind of assault on their religion. To protect holy Quran, Muslims can go to any extent,” he added.
He said every community has a right to preach its religion without any fear.
” India is a secular country. The people belonging to different religions have been preaching their religion without any fear, since decades. We are all one, may it be Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and others,” he added. (PTK)
