Special Show of Dogri Play “Baba Jittmal” Staged at University of Jammu
Designed and Directed by Ravinder Sharma, the event witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of theatre lovers, artists and students, who appreciated The Reflection Group’s continued contribution to the cultural landscape of Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu, December 03, 2025: UTSAAH – The Club Consortium, University of Jammu, Theatre Club in collaboration with the Heritage and Tourism Club, organised a special show of the Dogri play “Baba Jittmal” by the team of The Reflection Group at the Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. The play is written by Dr. Gian Singh and directed by Ravinder Sharma.
Baba Jittmal narrates the inspiring story of a forgotten Duggar saint and farmer, reflecting the cultural ethos of Jammu through themes of compassion, simplicity and spiritual resilience. The production received warm appreciation from the audience for its engaging narrative and powerful performances.
A large team of actors brought the story to life, including Rohan Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Ajay Tamang, Akash Katoch, Gorav Singh Manhas, Nitesh Kumar, Param Sagar, Kandrav Sharma, Ujbal, Neeraj, Keshav Singh, Raguvansh, Nitin, Vrinda Gujral, Drishty Sharma, Vishnupriya, Monika Thapa, Vashnavi Sharma and Pooravi Sharma.
The play was aesthetically designed and directed by Ravinder Sharma. Lighting was operated by Brijesh Avtar Sharma, while music composed by Surinder Manhas and handled by Avinash Lakhnotra added depth to the presentation. Choreography was done by Rohit Bains; makeup by Shammi Damir; and costumes were designed by Pooja Sharma. Late Sh. Surinder Manhas and Nandni Kapoor sung the songs of play. Avinash Lakhnotra also served as the Assistant Director.
Prof. J. P. Singh Joorel, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. He congratulates the University of Jammu and the dedicated teams of both the Theatre Club and the Heritage & Tourism Club for bringing such a meaningful and culturally enriching performance to the campus. Prof. Meena Sharma, Chairperson UTSAAH, welcomed the guests. Dr. Madhulika Singh, Coordinator, Theatre Club; Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Coordinator, Heritage and Tourism Club and Prof. Alka Sharma, Dean Business studies were also present. The programme was coordinated by Cultural Officer, Ms. Ifra Kak.
