Samooh Theatre Celebrates 32nd Foundation Day with Dogri Play “Baba Jittmal”

The play "Baba Jittmal" highlights the tale of a forgotten local saint and farmer, deeply rooted in the soil of Duggar culture

Jammu, June 27, 2025: Samooh Theatre celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day with the staging of the Dogri play Baba Jittmal, written by Dr. Gian Singh and directed by Ravinder Sharma, at NNK Studio, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. The occasion also marked the birthday celebration of Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, the founder of Samooh Theatre and a veteran in the field of performing arts.

The play “Baba Jittmal” highlights the tale of a forgotten local saint and farmer, deeply rooted in the soil of Duggar culture, showcasing the values of compassion, simplicity, and spiritual strength.

A talented cast of actors brought the story to life on stage, including Rohan Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Ajay Tamang, Rohit Bains, Jatin Mehra, Nitesh Kumar, Param Sagar, Kandrav Sharma, Manik Sharma, Sandeep Manhas, Keshav Singh, Mukal Bains, Vrinda Sharma, Drishty, Jahnavi Sharma and Pooravi Sharma. The powerful ensemble performances were met with wide appreciation from the audience.

The play was aesthetically designed and directed by Ravinder Sharma, with lights operated by Aditya Bharti and Avinash Laknotra. The music was composed by Surinder Manhas and handled by Diksha Pandita, adding a soulful layer to the production. Choreography was done by Rohit Bains, while makeup was managed by Shammi Damir and costumes were designed by Anita Chandpuri.

The entire event was meticulously curated and coordinated by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, whose continued dedication and leadership remain the cornerstone of Samooh Theatre’s legacy.

Padamshree S.P. Verma graced the occasion as chief guest while Dr. Parnesh Mahajan Chairman N.S.M college presided over. Sh. Sanjeev Sharma was the guest of honor beside galaxy of theatre artists of state including Rajinder Narang, Bodh Raj, Aditya Bharti, Soham Kashyap, Kamal Chandpuri and people from civil society.
