Police recovered IED, huge quantity of explosive materials and ammunition in Awantipora and Ganderbal

Awantipora/Ganderbal, May 31, 2021: Awantipora Police along with security forces recovered an IED, huge quantity of explosive materials and ammunition in three separate actions from Awantipora and Ganderbal respectively.

In Awantipora, on specific information regarding an IED planted by terrorists alongside a link road leading from Railway-Dogripora to village Panzgam, a joint team of Awantipora Police, 55RR and 185th BN CRPF cordoned the said area. During search, a container of approximately 10 litre capacity containing IED was detected. The IED was subsequently got defused on the spot and thus a major tragedy was averted.

In this connection, case FIR number 90/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation initiated.

Similarly based on a specific credible input, Awantipora Police along with 42RR and 180BN CRPF conducted a search operation near Simoah Nallah of Tral. During the search operation, a plastic container of approximately 50-60 litre capacity containing IED material was recovered after digging at the suspected spot.

Following explosive materials were recovered from the said container:- Gun Powder (Ammonium powder) approximately 40-50Kg, 02 Electric Detonators, Cordex wire approximately 04mtrs and Electric Command wire approximately 100mtrs.

By recovering such a huge quantity of explosive materials, another major tragedy was averted by police/security forces.

Regarding the said incident case FIR number 59/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tral and investigation taken up.

Today based on a specific input  generated by Ganderbal Police, a CASO was launched  in the forest area of Shajinar (adjoining Gutlibagh) in the jurisdiction  of PP Gutlibagh by Police Ganderbal, 24 RR and 115 Bn CRPF.

During intensive search of the area/location, a cavity was found to have been dug in the ground and plastic cans containing AK series magazines = 11 No’s, AK series live ammunition (7.62×39 mm) = 597 rounds, UBGL rounds = 12 No’s, Pistol magazine = 01 No. and Pistol ammunition (live) = 06 rounds were recovered

Case FIR No. 91/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation taken up.
