Police arrests drug peddler in Srinagar; contraband substance and cash recovered

Jammu, January 22, 2021: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance and cash from his possession.

          Officers from Police Station Rainawari at a checkpoint established near Zindshah Masjid Rainawari, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01L-6924 with one person on board. He has been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh resident of Andurni Kathidarwaza A/P Shungli Pora Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover 140 grams of Charas and cash amount of ₹13,300 from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

          Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 03/2021  under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rainawari and further investigation has been initiated.

          Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
