PMGKAY: 1639 quintals free rice, 579 quintals free wheat distributed among beneficiaries of PHH, AAY categories in Kargil
Kargil, MAY 20, 2021: 1639 quintals of free rice and 579 quintals free wheat (atta) have been distributed till date as a part of the free ration distribution to the poor and needy souls under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalayan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) at more than 50 sale centres in the district for the month of May and June, 2021.
A total of 88215 beneficiaries belonging to the PHH and AAY in the district are being covered under the PMGKAY scheme.
Starting from 11th May, 2021, 7 kilograms free rice and 2 kilograms and 800 grams of free wheat (atta) have been distributed among more than 23500 beneficiaries out of the 88215 beneficiaries being covered under the scheme for which a total of 6175 quintals of rice and 2646 quintals of wheat (atta) has been allocated for the district.
Pertinently, Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalayan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is a central government scheme launched during the lockdown period last year amid COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve has directed the concerned officers to take all necessary measures to ensure that the food grains reach every corner of the district especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
