PM Shri Government Girls Middle School Jindrah Organizes Exposure Visit to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University

The exposure visit aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates experiential learning and career awareness among school students.

Jammu, March 11, 2025: PM Shri Government Girls Middle School, Jindrah, organized an educational exposure visit to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) today, offering students a unique opportunity to explore higher education prospects and gain firsthand experience of a university campus.

This initiative was aimed at inspiring and motivating young minds by introducing them to the academic environment, infrastructure, and learning opportunities available at SMVDU. It was conducted under the guidance of School Incharge Shamash Din and coordinated by Lakshami Devi, Bindya Rani, Sadaket Ali Malik, Babita Devi, Nisha, and Sandhaya.

The students were warmly received by university officials, faculty members, and staff, who provided an insightful orientation about the institution. The university representatives elaborated on various academic programs, research facilities, career prospects, and opportunities available at SMVDU. They highlighted the importance of higher education and its role in shaping the future of young learners.

During the visit, the students explored various departments and key facilities, including: Workshop, Foundry Shop, smithy Shop, Carpentry Shop, Central Library, network Centre
They actively participated in interactive sessions where they engaged with faculty members, researchers, and university scholars. These sessions provided them with a deeper understanding of different academic disciplines, scholarships, and career pathways. Many students expressed excitement and curiosity about the various fields of study and aspirations to pursue higher education in reputed institutions like SMVDU.

Several university faculty members and instructors played a great role in making the visit informative and engaging:

Deepak Byotra, Workshop Superintendent, emphasized the importance of technical skills in shaping the future workforce. He welcomed the students and encouraged them to develop practical expertise alongside theoretical knowledge.

Chandan Sharma, Work Instructor, provided detailed briefings on different machines and their functionalities. Gurvat Raj, Foundry Instructor, gave an insightful demonstration about foundry processes and their industrial significance. Dr. Varun Dutta Ji accompanied the students throughout the visit, ensuring they received a comprehensive learning experience.

Bodh Raj, Carpentry Shop Instructor, sensitized the students about woodworking skills and their applications in various fields.
A team of National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from SMVDU accompanied the students and provided valuable guidance. The volunteers included:
Asthbhujanath Pandey (Civil Engineering),
Ambuj Rai (Electronics & Communication Engineering), Praveen Giri (Computer Science & Engineering), Pearl Mahajan (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
The volunteers briefed the students about different aspects of university life, workshop operations, library resources, and the network centre. They also highlighted the role of technical and professional skills in career development.

The exposure visit aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates experiential learning and career awareness among school students. By bridging the gap between school education and higher studies, such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping young minds and guiding them towards a brighter future.

Expressing enthusiasm about the initiative, School Incharge Shamash Din emphasized the importance of such visits in broadening students’ perspectives. He stated:

This visit has given them a glimpse of academic excellence and career opportunities that lie ahead. The school administration extended heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for providing the students with this invaluable learning experience. They also acknowledged the efforts of faculty members, coordinators, supporting staff, and NSS volunteers who contributed to making the visit a memorable and insightful experience.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Sadaket Malik, who expressed appreciation to SMVDU Adminstration.
