Out of 754 dengue cases in J&K, 505 are in Jammu
SRINAGAR, October 30, 2021: Dengue fever cases in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory have passed the 750 mark with the highest number of infections recorded in Jammu district with 505 cases.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Education has launched an aggressive campaign to inform the public about preventive measures to control the rapid spread of vector-borne diseases.
“Dengue cases are increasing every day and as of Friday the number of people diagnosed with dengue has surpassed 700,” a health department official said.
He said that on Friday 55 new cases were reported bringing the total cases to 754 with the Jammu region having the highest concentration of 505. “At the same time, 123 cases came from Kathua district and 60 cases from Samba district,” an official said.
For the first time since 2014, a large number of dengue fever cases have been reported, they said, adding that according to experts, cases would start to decline by mid-November.
“The community continues to be socialized to prevent dengue. This time the affected areas include Sarwal, Rehari, Janipur in Jammu and Govindsar Kathua,” said Dr Belu Sharma, State Malaria Officer here Saturday. (PTK)
