More than 440 free dry ration kits distributed by District Administration Kargil among migrant laborers

KARGIL, JUNE 10, 2021: As a part of the measures to ensure provision of free ration and other essential commodities to the migrant laborers across the district during the present COVID-19 pandemic, District Administration Kargil distributed free dry ration kits among 445 laborers here today.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, the Migrant Labour Welfare Committee Kargil comprising of the Assistant Labor Commissioner (ALC) Raziya Khatoon, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Kargil Dr Zakir Hussain, Block Development Officer Sodh Jigmeth Angchuk, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kargil Shafaqat Ali Mir, In Charge AD, FCS&CA Kargil Muhammad Akbar and other concerned officers distributed the free dry ration kits among laborers at Andoo,Petrol Pump area ,TV Station, University Office area ,Kurbathang and adjoining areas.

1200 free ration kits and 250 such kits were also dispatched for distribution among migrant laborers at Zanskar Sub Division and Tai Suru Block respectively.

Food items were distributed among the laborers at the scale of rice 5 kgs, dal 1.50 kgs, cooking oil 1 liter, nutri nuggets 0.5 kgs, sugar 0.5 kgs, milk powder 0.5 kgs, 3 masks and 1 soap per person besides sanitary pads for female laborers.

Furthermore, free medicines were also provided to the needy laborers on production of doctor’s prescription.

Pertinently, around more than 4500 migrant laborers across the district are being provided free food items as per the list provided by the officers committee constituted at the district headquarter and SDMs from the respective sub divisions.
