Mankotia demanded to increase Jammu Assembly seats

Jammu, July 09, 2021:  A delegation led by former MLA of Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia met with the members of Delimitation Commission in Jammu also submitted memorandum.
While giving information Mankotia said that he apprised the members regarding the discrimination in the distribution of assembly seats to Jammu assembly from 1947 till today. Talking about equality in assembly seat distribution, he said that if there is a limitation setup on the basis of counting of 2011, then Jammu division cannot get its right, it should be done on the basis of 2021 census. Along with making the area, all the hilly districts of Jammu in which Ramban Kishtwar Doda Udhampur Kathua Reasi Poonch Rajouri etc should be made on the lines of special Pahari Assembly areas on the pattern of Gurez Pahadi Assembly in Kashmir which has been made on 14 thousand voters.  Similarly, out of 24 seats of PoK, 08 seats should be given to those people who have migrated and SC reserve seats should be rotated.
Mankotia told the commission that if team comes out of such AC rooms and meet the people who are on the block level and sees the situation there itself, then there can be a right Delimitation and people can get justice.
