Kulgam Police solves hit and run case; Accused arrested within hours
Kulgam, May 29, 2021: Police Post Mirbazar received information that a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03J-2738 was hit by unknown vehicle resulting grievous injuries to the biker & pillion rider and both are lying on road in unconscious state at Ganjipora on NHW area of Mirbazar. The driver of the vehicle fled away from spot along with vehicle.
Acting promptly, a police party reached on the spot and found that both the persons were dead and are lying on the road side. They were identified as Shahid Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Rashid Malla and Majid Rashid Ganai son of Abdul Rashid Ganai both residents of Bongund Dooru.
Accordingly a case vide FIR No. 116/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Qazigund and a special team under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted.
The special team led by I/C PP Mirbazar after strenuous efforts intercepted the involved vehicle (Wagnor Car) bearing registration number JK03G-7799 along with the accused driver from Furra area of Anantnag within three hours after the information was recieved. He has been identified as Mohd Hussain Tantray son of Abdul Rahim Tantray resident of Furra.
He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle involved in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
