KPC organizes culture event to mark the culmination of 60-day training workshop on “Vanvun” (Henzey Vanvun)

Jammu, June 14, 2023: For the revival, preservation, development and re-uniting of the Kashmir’s Cultural Heritage, Kashmir Performers Collective (KPC), Srinagar Kashmir organized the culminating programme of the 60-day training workshop at Writer’s Club, Abhinav Theatre Jammu.

This Cultural event was a part of the project “Vanvun” (Henzey Vanvun) approved by Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi (BTI Section) under the Scheme of Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage of Himalayas, in which Kashmir Performers Collective, Srinagar Kashmir under the supervision of Manzoor Ahmad Mir researched, worked and documented various aspects of Cultural Heritage in Jammu and Kashmir including Vanvun, Rouf, Dhambaali, Bacha Nagma, Bhand Tchoke, Hafiz Nagma, etc.

Apart from this, more than thirty young boys and girls have been trained in Srinagar and Jammu cities together under the guidance of galaxy of experts of each art for formal training in these arts.

The Chief Guest for today’s closing ceremony was Mr. Ajay Bharti (Former MLC & Spokesperson BJP J&K U.T.) and the guests of honor was Mr. Mushtak Kak (SNA Awardee for theatre direction), Dr. Samita Bhat (Gynae Oncologist) and Sh. M. K. Yogi (Social Activist). They expressed that it was appropriate to organize such programs not only to promote the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir but also to give more priority to the centuries-old brotherhood here.

Audience that included galaxy of writers, poets, cultural activists like Sh. Arvind Shah, SH. P. N. Shad, Mrs. Kusum Dhar, Mrs. Nirmala Koul, Mrs. Palvi Koul, Sh. Gopi Kishen Bahar, Dr. Ramesh Nirash, etc. strongly appreciated the organizers of this program, Ministry of Cultural, Government of India and other institutions supporting this program and strongly emphasized that in the future also these cultural institutions should be given all possible support for bringing forward such programs so that our cultural heritage can get its rightful place.

At the end of this event, Manzoor Ahmad Mir President Kashmir Performers Collective and Director of this event, in his vote of thanks speech thanked Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Chief Guest, Guest of honors, media representatives, management of Writer’s Club, Abhinav Theatre Jammu, the audience and especially to all those friends and supporters without whom this project could not have been completed, including Sh. Rohit Bhat, Smt. Bharti Kaul, Sh. King C Bharati, Mrs. Suman, Ms. Priya, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bhagat, Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhagat, Mr. Mehrajuddin Bhat, etc.
