Kashmiri Pandits Reaffirm Resolve on Sankalp Diwas as Navreh Mahotsav 2025 Continues
Second Day of Three-Day Festival Sees Community Pledging Return to Kashmir Across Jammu, India, and Abroad
Jammu, March 30, 2025: On the second day of the ongoing “Navreh Mahotsav 2025,” the Kashmiri Pandit community today observed Sankalp Diwas (Day of Resolve) with solemnity and determination. Responding to a call given by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra (SSK), Jammu, community members participated in pledge-taking ceremonies, reaffirming their collective commitment and aspiration to return to their homeland, Kashmir.
Organized events marked the day across various locations. Vivekananda Kendra Nagdandi hosted a significant “Navreh Milan” at Sanskriti Bhawan in Roop Nagar, Jammu, where attendees collectively recited the Sankalp (pledge). Another major gathering for a Samohik Sankalp (Collective Pledge) took place at the revered Mata Baderkali shrine in Talwal, Jammu. Similar community pledge events were reported from Gurugram, highlighting the observance beyond Jammu and Kashmir.
Beyond these organized gatherings, the spirit of Sankalp Diwas resonated deeply within individual families. Countless Kashmiri Pandit households in Jammu, various parts of Kashmir, across India, and even abroad participated privately, reciting the pledge within their homes, reinforcing the personal and collective nature of the community’s resolve.
Sankalp Diwas forms the central theme of the second day of the core three-day Navreh Mahotsav celebrations, which run from March 29th to March 31st. The festival commenced yesterday, March 29th, with Tyaag Divas, honouring the sacrifice of the 15th-century scholar Acharya Pandit Shreya Bhat. Numerous events were held across Jammu and other cities to commemorate his contributions. Tomorrow, March 31st, will be observed as Shaurya Divas, celebrating the valour and legacy of the 8th-century emperor, Samrat Lalitaditya.
Engaging the younger generation remains a key focus. The online essay and short video competitions on the lives and contributions of Acharya Pandit Shreya Bhat and Samrat Lalitaditya continue to receive entries via the designated Google Form ( https://forms.gle/g2daj7m18MqrKSjb9 ). Information about these historical figures continues to circulate actively on social media platforms.
The Navreh Mahotsav 2025 will culminate in a concluding ceremony, the Navreh Samaroh, scheduled for Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Abhinav Theatre in Jammu. This event will formally close the Mahotsav celebrations.
