Kashmiri Pandit Delegation Highlights Ration Coupon Distribution Challenges

Long Queues and Staff Shortages Delay Ration Distribution; Important Announcement Regarding Ration Coupon Collection

Jammu, April 25, 2025: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandit community members, led by Sh. M.K. Yogi and including Sh. Rakesh Koul, Bal Krishan Bhat, Vishal Jotshi, Ashwani Bhat, Shuban Ji Raina, Rajesh Labroo, and Sanjay Raina, recently visited several migrant zones to observe the distribution of ration coupons for the year 2025-26.

The delegation witnessed significant delays in the coupon distribution process, noting long queues of people, including many elderly individuals and women, waiting to receive their coupons. They observed that a shortage of staff, particularly Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), coupled with a manual distribution process, contributed significantly to these delays.

Following their observations, the delegation met with the Hon’ble Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Sh. Arvind Karwani. Sh. Yogi and other delegation members raised their concerns regarding the difficulties faced by the migrant community during the ration coupon distribution. Sh. Karwani listened attentively and assured the delegation that steps would be taken to improve the process and mitigate the challenges faced by those collecting coupons.

In an important message to all migrant families, the delegation announced that there is no need for concern regarding the deadline for coupon collection. All eligible families will receive their coupons up to April 30th, 2025. Further dates will be announced soon to accommodate any families unable to collect their coupons by the original deadline. This assurance aims to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their ration coupons without undue stress or hardship.
