JKTA felicitates Secretary Sports Council

JAMMU, March 18, 2021: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association (JKTA) felicitated the first women Secretary of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Nuzhat Gul on her appointment as head of the premier sports organisation of the Union Territory.

Amidst appreciation for her initiatives to promote sports and sportspersons, senior vice president of JKTA, SM Bali, along with International Player, Coach, Referee, Referee Committee member of India Taekwondo), Atul Pangotra presented a souvenir to Nuzhat.

Bali, who is also senior vice president of the India Taekwondo and Joint Secretary of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), had detailed discussions with the Secretary with regard to promotion of the sports, especially the game of Taekwondo.

SM Bali briefed about the uninterrupted activities and achievements of JKTA during last 34 years since its establishment in 1986. He informed the Secretary about the recently organised historic charitable event of Vishal Memorial JKTA Foundation Cup-2021 wherein around 4000 players across the UT participated. The championship was free for everyone where Orphans, Para and players from migrant families participated. Most importantly, the event was supported by the Korean Government through its Korean Culture Centre, New Delhi.

The Secretary responded positively and admired JKTA for promotion and upliftment of Taekwondo. She promised full support from her office for the future events and activities.

Atul Pangotra also discussed the technical aspects of the Olympic event of Taekwondo and attempts by some vested interests to detail the progress made by the game during all these years in J&K.

Important to mention here that Secretary Nuzhat Gul during her visit to the Sports Stadium Poonch was inspired during interactions with JKTA affiliated young trainees of Taekwondo.
