GDC Drass, Labour Department Kargil organize online talk, awareness session on World Day Against Child Labour

KARGIL JUNE 12, 2021: As a part of the various events being organized as a part of the 75 Years of India’s Independence- Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Department of Political Science, Government Degree College (GDC) Drass in collaboration with Labour Department, Kargil today organized an online talk and awareness session on World Day Against Child Labour through online mode.

Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kargil Raziya Khatoon presented the keynote talk on the theme wherein she spoke in detail about the global and national data of children engaged in different industries and the various acts which provide protection to children against labour.

The ALC also talked about the increase in number of child labour cases during the COVID-19 pandemic because of various reasons such as debt, unemployment etc. She also told about schemes available with Labour Department which can actually help children of the laborers to continue their studies. She urged students to work as ambassadors for spreading awareness against child labour.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Professor Political Science Professor Jigmet Sangyas briefed about the significance of the day.

Earlier, during the welcome speech, Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali thanked the ALC Kargil for accepting the invitation to deliver the keynote talk on the World Day Against Child Labour

Later, a question answer session was also held which was followed by a vote of thanks to the guests, teachers and students.
