Ganderbal Police arrests drug peddler; Contraband substance recovered
Ganderbal, January 27, 2021: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Ganderbal have arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Based on specific information, a police party of Police Station Safapora headed by SHO PS Safapora established a checkpoint at Mirabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK15-3597 with one person on board. He has been identified as Bilal Ahmed Sheikh resident of Markundal Hajin. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.5Kgs of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 02/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safapora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
