Jammu, May 31, 2021: RAMESH MEHTA , former Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) passed away today at Naraina Hospital Katra. Family sources said, he was suffering from COVID infection.He was 74. He survived with his Wife, Son, and Daughter.
Born in 1947, Ramesh Mehta was a Writer, Artist, and Critic of national repute. During 2003 to 2006 he served as Secretary Cultural Academy. He joined Academy in 1973 as Editor Hindi where he contributed immensely to the promotion of Hindi , Dogri and other languages and their Literature.
For his outstanding contributions, Sh Mehta was the recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award at the Authors Guild of India in 1984.
He was a renowned Hindi poet and scholar. His Artwork also got appreciations from within Jammu and Kashmir and across India.
He has also worked for highlighting Jammu’s heritage to other parts of the world through his writings.
Employees of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages expressed shock over sad demise of Sh Mehta and remembered his contributions for the upliftment of Art, Culture and Languages of Jammu and Kashmir.
