Feroz Khan assures all possible support in execution of urban development works in Kargil Town
KARGIL, JUNE 21, 2020: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Feroz Ahmad Khan held a meeting with the executive members of LEDeG and BORDA at the Council Secretariat Kargil here today during which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the LAHDC Kargil, LEDeG and BORDA for sanitation and washing for Kargil town.
Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Arman Mosavi, Executive Councilor Tourism Phunsok Tashi, Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi, Executive Councilor for Health Mohsin Ali, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Director Urban Local Bodies Ladakh Dr Zahida Banoo, Vice President Municipal Committee Kargil Gulzar Hussain, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kargil Shafaqat Ali Mir, Executive Director LEDeG Ishey Tundup, Project Manager Asma Yusuf, Programme Coordinator Ajaz Hussain Munshi besides other concerned were present during the meeting.
On behalf of the LAHDC Kargil, the MoU was signed by the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhdeve with the representatives of LEDeG and BORDA.
On the occasion, a presentation was given by Chemat Dorjay from LEDeG on various aspects of sanitation, water supply, water and waste management related o Kargil Town.
CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan said that Kargil Town being a congested place needs expansion, and keeping this in view framing policies for urban development of the town is need of the hour. He added that support of organizations like LEDeG and BORDA will remain instrumental in providing technical support and capacity building for execution of projects particularly in providing exposure tours, trainings, workshops and other required support.
The CEC said that there is no dearth of funds, similarly technology is also available, however without technical support things cannot be executed, adding he said that organizations like LEDeG and BORDA have experience of working in cold climatic conditions and their projects have remained successful as well. Therefore, the expertise they carry will certainly be beneficial in achieving sustainable urban development goals for Kargil town.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve said that architecture and structural planning should be done as per the topographic conditions of Ladakh and in designing RFP and DPR, the services of LEDeG and BORDA will be definitely required.
Executive Director LEDeG Ishay Tundup and Project Manager Asma Yusuf while expressing gratitude to the LAHDC Kargil for signing of the MoU requested to form a committee on the project to which the CEC Kargil said that it will be done soon, while all possible support will also be extended from the administration to execute the project in a smooth manner.
