Faculty Development Programme by UoL concludes at Kargil
CEC Feroz Khan calls for introduction of FDP in School Education
KARGIL, OCTOBER, 20, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended the valedictory session of the 6 Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Emerging Trends and Challenges in Higher Education organized by University of Ladakh (UoL) under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Registrar UoL Imteeaz Kacho, Dean Academic Affairs/Controller Examinations Professor Deskyong Namgyal, Director Kargil Campus UoL Kaneez Fatima, Assistant Professor Department of Forensics Punjab University Professor Shweta Sharma, National Awardee Teacher Muhammad Ali Akhone, Consultant UoL Sonam Wangchuk, event organizer Assistant Professor Sociology Dr Jaffar Khan, resource persons besides faculty members of the UoL were present on the occasion.
CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan hailed the UoL for taking steps in imparting FDP for its teaching faculty and said that LAHDC Kargil has always remained committed to the growth of the University since its infancy, he said adding that it is overwhelming to see that in a very short span of time both Leh and Kargil campuses have been able to function as a full fledg ed manner.
Khan while acknowledging the contribution of former Vice Chancellor C Phunsok in raising the firm foundations of the University said that it is moving ahead in the right direction under the able leadership of present VC S K Mehta.
Meanwhile, the CEC assured to allocate 300 kanals land at Kurbathang for UoL and expressed optimism that soon the University will be standing firm along with the other universities of the country.
CEC Feroz Khan further asserted that FDPs need to be imparted in the school education sector as well for strengthening the education system in equal proportion.
Registrar UoL Imteeaz Kacho in his address extended gratitude to all the resource persons and faculty members for their contribution in making the event successful and said that FDP will be a regular exercise on the calendar of the University.
Dean Academic Affairs Deskyong Namgyal said that the UoL is determined to organize more such programmes in future, and our faculty members have always been motivating us to take such endeavours.
Earlier during the welcome address, Director UoL Kargil Campus Kaneez Fatima said that since the teachers are the pillars of education system, it assumes significance to impart FDP to the faculty so as to strengthen their skills further. She said that all the sessions were highly interactive and intriguing and added that the event would not have been successful without the highly qualified resource persons coming from the reputed universities of the country as well as the faculty members.
The Director also expressed gratitude to the LAHDC Kargil in general and CEC Feroz Khan in particular for always remaining supportive towards the growth and endeavours of the Kargil Campus of UoL.
During the event, Incharge Head Master GMS Karith and National Awardee Teacher Muhammad Ali Akhone was also felicitated by UoL for bringing innovative ideas and subject specific classrooms in transforming the education system.
Pertinently, 13 sessions on different themes were held during the faculty development programme which was inaugurated by the VC UoL S K Mehta.
Meanwhile, earlier during the various session held in the six day event, Vice Chancellor RB University Chandigarh Punjab Professor Parvinder Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor Delhi University Professor VC Joshi and other resource persons conducted sessions on different themes during
On the concluding day today, Assistant Professor Department of Forensics Punjab University Professor Shweta Sharma gave her presentation on the theme ‘Equipping Students with Requisite Skill Set for Their Future Endeavours’.
Dr Diskit from the Department of Botany and Dr Shahnawaz from the IT Department, UoL gave a brief summary of the 4 day event and the various sessions held.
Dr Muhammad Saleem, Assistant Professor Environmental Sciences gave the vote of thanks while the event was moderated by Assistant Professor Geography Dr Muhammad Taqi.
